What is a B+ category license?
Category B+ is the type of copyright that lets you to drive a car with either a semi-trailer, or a trailer. The trailer and vehicle must have a maximum authorised mass (MAM1) that does not exceed 3,500 kg, and the driver must be at least 18 years old to be eligible for this license. The Category B+ licence is an excellent option for those who want to drive larger vehicles, but do not want to take the Class A CDL test.
The requirements for a Category B+ license vary by state, but typically include an uncommercial copyright as well as passing a medical exam. Generally, drivers who have passed a car test before 1 January 1997 and who hold a category B licence are able to drive a motor vehicle that has a trailer on condition that the MAM1 of the trailer and vehicle does not exceed 3,500 kilograms. However they won't be allowed to drive a vehicle with trailers that fall under the subcategory C1+E or D1+E. They must pass the appropriate driving tests to upgrade their licence to allow them to do so.
In certain EEA member states drivers who have passed their category B driving test will not have to pass the category B driving exam. They can transport a trailer with 12,000 kg with their category B license. This exemption is noted on the registration certificate of the vehicle.
The qualifications to get a class B CDL differ by state, but usually include having a clean driving record and passing a medical test. You may be required to go through a program of training that combines classroom instruction with hands-on driving. You may also opt to add endorsements to your class B license, for example, passenger transport or small HAZMAT which will increase the chances of getting a job.
What are the requirements for a B+ category license?
A category B+ license is a fantastic option to climb the commercial vehicle licensing ladder. While it doesn't have quite as many endorsements as a Class A license but it does open the door to some serious career opportunities and permits you to drive vehicles that aren't available on the regular car or truck (C) license.
You must be at least 18 years old and have an impeccable driving record. You also need to pass a medical exam. Depending on the type work you're looking to do, there are also specific requirements for certain types of vehicles. If you plan to drive across state lines or transport dangerous material, you will need an additional endorsement.
A category B+ driving licence is valid for five years, unlike other driving licenses. You may be required to take additional medical tests or other tests to renew your copyright. Certain countries require drivers to undergo specific training before they are permitted to drive certain kinds of vehicles.
The definition of a Category B+ vehicle is similar to that of a normal category B license. A category B+ vehicle is any large truck that has a GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more but does not include a tractor/semi-trailer. This includes large delivery trucks, cement mixers, and fire trucks. In general, these trucks carry a a maximum load of 85,000 pounds.
To obtain a category B+ copyright, you will need to pass the driving test for a car of category B with tow trailers whose authorized mass does not exceed 3500 kilograms. This is an obligation in Norway and EEA Member States, with the exception of Denmark.
If you pass the driver's test in a category-B vehicle before 19th January 2013, your copyright will automatically be upgraded to include the full category B+E privilege. To drive any vehicle larger than the category A vehicle, you must pass an additional test in the subcategories of D1+E or C1+E. This also includes vehicles that are towed by passengers or a towed vehicle.
Where can I get a category B+ license?
If you are a driver with a category B license you are able to drive motor vehicles with a maximum authorised mass (MAM) of up to 3.5 tonnes. This includes trailers that weigh up to 750kg. You can also drive a car and trailer combination with a MAM that is up to 8,250 kg, provided that the total MAM is not more than 12,000 kg.
You can get category B+ added to your licence in the event that you pass a driving test that is for the kind of vehicle you wish to drive. This can be done by completing form D2 and sending it to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). It is important to note that you must be at least 18 years old in order to obtain the category B+ copyright, although some states have age requirements higher than this.
